Emma Turner, RP, RMFT

Psychotherapy / Counselling

Emma TurnerI am an individual, couple and family therapist who has knowledge and experience of supporting people with problems or concerns.  Including but not limited to,  depression, anxiety, conflict in relationships, divorce/separation, trauma, substance use, and stress. I am also comfortable and experienced in working with a wide range of people from different walks of life. Including age, sexuality and gender, race, culture, religion, ability and socioeconomic status.

In addition to my private practice, I am also a Clinical Supervisor at a children’s mental health agency in Toronto. Previous to this position, I worked with youth and their families at a youth mental health agency as a therapist for 6 years.

I am skilled in several different therapy approaches.  Such as Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy.  I work from the assumption that people have their own skills and knowledge and that they are the experts in their own lives. In my work, I provide collaborative space for the people I meet with to name their own goals and challenges. Above all, it is important to me to honour, respect and dignify people’s diverse voices, values and skills in this work.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).  As well as a Clinical Fellow with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) in good standing.

Outside of being a therapist and clinical supervisor, I am also a wedding/family photographer. I also enjoy yoga, playing ball hockey, walking my dog, spending time with friends and family, practicing my Academy Award acceptance speech, and eating ice cream.
