Registered Massage Therapist

Yvonne Marrello, RMT graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2015. Prior to studying to become a massage therapist, she graduated from the George Brown dance program in 2007. She loves working as a massage therapist because it allows her to combine the love of science with the art of health care in a personalized environment.

She utilizes her dance experience as well as her background in movement to better understand her clients’ specific needs. Whether it is an injury-related treatment to regain strength and remove pain.  Or a relaxation-based treatment to help with common stressors and decrease tension. Some of her favourite treatments are treating tight IT bands and hip flexors, everything pregnancy related as well as treating clients with TMJ pain.

Additional areas of study / Technique Style

Yvonne has taken post-secondary courses with Tom Myers, studying the fascial chains within the body which treat and release myofascial restrictions. A treatment that involves manipulation of the fascia can help to decrease pain and increase movement throughout the body.  She also integrates Swedish massage techniques to ensure all areas of tension are released.

Prenatal Massage

A primary area of focus for Yvonne is perinatal treatment.  She has completed two courses with Trimesters Education under Cindy McNeely with a placement in the Sunnybrook high-risk antenatal unit. She has further completed her Labour Support/Doula certification.

Yvonne’s perinatal treatment encompasses prenatal and postpartum massage to help manage your aches and pains. She also provides services as the birth doula, which can assist you with your birthing goals and be a constant support during your birthing process.

Outside the clinic

Yvonne is also a part-time teaching assistant and clinical supervisor at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. She has been a teaching assistant in both advanced massage skill classes and clinical assessments. She loves that she can still actively participate in the classroom, keeping her skills sharp from all her students’ questions.
After all is said and done she loves to stay active with her yoga and Pilates. She can implement both into homecare exercises.

Yvonne is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and is a member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario.

Please note that Yvonne is relocating to Sudbury in October 2020.
